So we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
-Romans 12:5

Our mission is to proclaim God’s word and the good news of the Gospel to our members and the community. Our congregation has become very open and inclusive with members reflecting a spectrum of theological views. We welcome dialogue and exploration as we broaden our understanding of God’s call to each of us and to our congregation.
Springfield was founded in 1836 as the first church in what was then Baltimore County. It sits atop the highest point in town, in a rich agricultural area with ample streams for mills, and deposits of copper. The founding families wanted a school for their children as well as a place of worship and the first floor room was the first school and the upper room the sanctuary.
We gather weekly for worship and fellowship welcoming all into our church home. Our building has an elevator and is very accessible. We look forward to meeting you!

Farewells and Welcomes
On November 27 we held another farewell. Rev. Johnston, as our interim, completed the task of helping us through our search process for a designated pastor. With thanks to Pastor Bill for his steady hand and sense of humor in the day-to-day tasks of running Springfield, providing thought-provoking sermons and Bible studies, and being a comforting presence for home and hospital visits.
December 4 the congregation elected Rev. Rick Hill our Designated Pastor. This new partnership provides opportunities for growth for all. Pastor Rick brings campus, pastoral, and music experience so we are excited about the possibilities for our own personal, spiritual development and our presence in the community. While his official role with office hours does not begin until January, he is our pulpit supply for December. Come join us, be part of our church family shaping our path forward.
